The SpeedCoach is a deck mounted kayak computer. Speed and distance are
calculated using a small impeller with a magnetic pickup that is attached to the hull of
the boat.
The SpeedCoach provides you with all the information you need to train and race
effectively. Boat speed through the water is accurately measured and clearly
displayed, together with stroke rate and elapsed time, distance or averaged speed.
The memory feature lets you review your performance over a pace or race in detail.
The display unit is waterproof, bouyant and durable and the speed sensor is low-drag
and resistant to fouling. There are no holes required in the hull to use the Speed
Coach.

1. How does the SpeedCoach attach to the boat ?
The SpeedCoach is attached to the kayak using a mounting bracket. This bracket can
be attached to the deck using double sided tape or velcro. The impeller is attached to
the outside of the hull in the same way.
2. How does the control unit talk to the impeller?
The the impeller is a rotating magnet that turns as the boat moves through the water.
The rotating magnet is picked up by a sensor that is on the inside of the hull adjacent to
the impeller.
3. Will the SpeedCoach work on all sizes of boats?
Yes, the SpeedCoach is designed to work on singles, double and even triple kayaks.
It can easily be calibrated to suit any length of kayak.
4. Can the impeller be removed for transporting the boat?
We fitted our impeller using a strip of VHB Scotch Dual Lock. This allows the impeller to
be safely removed when its not being used.
